Pearl iZumi Shine

The Shine is Pearl Izumis softest shoeboth underneath and surrounding the foot. The well-padded, nearly seamless upper incorporates camouflaged support straps that are linked directly to the laces. It pulls comfortably around the midfoot, although some wear-testers found the shoe a bit loose in the heel and a tad short on the toes. A spongy heelstrike is provided by a soft foam heel containing a highly collapsible rubber SkyDex crash pad. Forefoot loads are absorbed primarily by the foam midsole, a bottom-loaded slab of higher-quality foam, and its blown rubber outersole. The cushioning is slightly temperedbut durability is improvedby a thin plastic plate that sits between the ball of the foot and the majority of the cushioning materials, intended to promote a more efficient toe-off by acting as a lever.
